What is your most memorable moment as a brand?

Having my jackets sold at my favorite Venice, CA boutique was the greatest feeling of accomplishment!

How would you describe the collection’s aesthetic?

Southwestern, Beachy and Classic.

Who would you most like to wear these pieces?

Erin Wasson would be ideal, but my favorite customers are all the babies and kids that sport my jackets!

What’s the best part of designing the collection?

Finding the perfect jackets is always a treasure hunt, I love finding that diamond in the rough. Choosing the fabric is always inspiring for me and gets me excited to start sewing right away!

I’m really getting into deep neutral colors with bold pops of maroon and turquoise geometrics.

Trendabl’s Blog of the Moment - And I Was Like

This week, we met up with the banging betty of And I Was Like, Bridget Helene Bahl, to pick her brain about what it takes to create a successful fashion/lifestyle blog. After working in the Public Relations department of Yves Saint Laurent for the past five years, Bridget was ready for a change. She decided it was time to trade in her Tributes for something a bit more rewarding – a site that discusses all things that girls discuss. And alas, And I Was Like was born. B’s blog not only features pretty pics (many by the talented Abby Warhola – Andy Warhol’s niece!) and helpful beauty tips, but it also encompasses a sense of humor that keeps you scrolling for more. Get to know Bridget in this quirky Q & A:

Why did you initially decide to start a blog?

It’s been a long time coming. I wanted to create a space that felt like a diary of sorts that features my friends and I, the things we do, places we go, products we use and trends we love. I think it’s a fun look into the lives of real girls working and playing in NYC. I also wanted to feature the amazing people I have met in the fashion world that inspire me. I wanted to create an aspirational, yet obtainable destination for girls to check out fashion, beauty and lifestyle trends.

What is the story behind your blog’s title?

I wanted the voice of my site to feel familiar, like texting with your best friend. So I started paying attention to conversations with my friends and there was a whole lot of “and I was like, then he was like” going on. Now I hear it everywhere.

What type of camera do you use?

A Canon T3i, but I am starting to experiment with new lenses. I also shoot with my girlfriend, Abby Warhola quite a bit. She’s a Warhol and clearly a natural talent.

What do you do when you’re not blogging?

Hang out with my man, explore the city with my girlfriends, go home to Pittsburgh and cheer for the Steelers with my family, read, try to figure out meditation, workout - I love Physique 57 and I am a regular at Flywheel (spinning).  I also recently became a member at Erno Laszlo and have been spending a ton of time there working on my skin - post summer!

What are your personal favorite blogs?

My friend Geri’s blog Because I’m Addicted, Style Snooper Dan, Stockholm Street Style, The Business of Fashion, Into the Gloss, The Cut and

Any advice for anyone who wants to start her own fashion blog?

Just start. I waited to launch because I wanted the site to be perfect, but honestly it’s still evolving. Just start, be open to constructive criticism (still working on that one) and be yourself.

What are the best aspects of running your own blog? What are the hardest aspects?

I love working for myself, although it can be a double-edged sword. If I slack, I am only hurting myself, but having total creative freedom is a godsend. My favorite part, by far, are the emails I get from readers. I love getting to know “my” girls!

What fashion and/or beauty product can you not live without at the moment?

Obagi Vitamin C Serum, Nars Premium tinted moisturizer, MAC Fix and my Alexander Wang Kori boots… still living in them.

Where are your favorite places to shop in the city?

Otte NYC, Phoenix Rose, Reformation, Nars on Bleeker, Catbird (Brooklyn), Curve, Net-A-Porter (same day delivery in NYC).

Are there any trends you’re particularly inspired by this season?

I’m feeling super inspired by all things 90’s, specifically the movie “Clueless.” I know that wasn’t necessarily a “trend”, but think about it… midriffs, kilted plaid skirts, angora sweaters, knee highs…all of those things are happening right now and I am fully embracing them.

If you could shop anyone’s closet, whose would it be?

Kate Bosworth. Has she ever done wrong? Girl is great at mixing high and low and can steal the show anywhere, whether it be the Met Gala or Coachella.

What fashion motto do you live by?

"I think you only regret the things you don’t do. Even things that were not good, you process them and they become part of something else, and something good comes out of it." - Diane Von Furstenberg

Trendabl Today I’m Wearing

Take a peek into a day in the life of Trendabl consultant, Katie. As a southern California native, Katie’s personal style reflects that of her sunny Santa Monica lifestyle - laid back, friendly and original.

My office environment has always been pretty laid back, which is why I can get away with giving some corporate classics (blazer and button up) a little edge.

My best friend is a senior designer at Chan Luu and always hooks me up with the greatest accessories. Here I am wearing several of my favorite statement necklaces from their latest collection.

This exotic python studded tote could make even the simplest outfit stand out. It is one of my favorite pieces in my closet.

Living in Southern California, I am spoiled by the fact that I never really have to put away my shorts, which is lucky since my denim cut off collection is larger than most. My motto is the more destroyed, the better.

I’ve recently been loving the girl gone grunge trend and found that the easiest way to achieve this 90’s inspired look is by simply throwing on a vintage flannel.

Every girl needs a good black leather jacket in her closet. It’s a must no matter what coast you live on.

While cruising the streets of Venice, I prefer to wear two of my closet staples - chucks and a burnt out muscle tank.

I’ve always been a fan of aviators and these mirrored green lenses are a fun take on a classic.

I found this “vintage aloha” printed bikini while visiting Kauai. It fits great and I adore the color combination.

This spring suit is absolutely perfect for those first few days of Fall when the water has cooled down a bit, but not to the point where you need to sport a full body wet suit.

My closet is filled with classic pieces like this tan trench coat. It is a great transitional piece between seasons. Another closet classic is my coveted vintage Chanel purse that I purchased in Paris while studying there. It has a lot of sentimental value to me and can be worn with nearly every outfit I own.

Mixing prints has been a new thing for me this season. Although I was hesitant at first (all black has always been my staple), I think it can make for a flirty and fun look.

What I’m Wearing

Burberry trench coatBurberry Brit striped shirt, Barney’s Co-op skirt, Chanel handbag, H&M sunglasses

An over sized knitted sweater is my every day go-to for fall. They are great for layering and can be dressed up simply by adding a few pieces of edgy jewelry.

When it comes to jewelry, my wrists are always stacked - here I am wearing four things I never take off: my Cartier watch and love bracelet, my Giles and Brothers nail cuff and my Chan Luu wrap.

These denim trousers are very versatile and easy to throw on for a lazy Sunday. At the end of a long week, casual and comfortable are what I look for in my closet.

Trendabl Top Ten: Spring Collections from London Fashion Week

At London Fashion Week, sheer looks and florals appeared in many of the designers collections (like Burberry and Alberta Ferretti). Others, such as David Koma, offered up a combination of bold Riviera stripes and architectural shapes. While Preen brought a taste of Miami to the brisk streets of London with his summery Barbie pinks and swimming-pool blues. Antonio Berardi took a slightly more urban approach to his collection, creating a “laissez-faire” vibe. All in all, we are loving what British fashion designers are doing for our Spring ‘14 wardrobe. Here are our top five looks from our top ten designers in the UK. Check back next week as we continue to travel the globe to Milan and Paris! Bisous.
